Where The Heaven Am I?

While visiting Rome a few years back, we decided to tour the Vatican. The architecture and works of art are totally amazing, even to one who is not an art buff. The most impressive site was the Sistine Chapel with the works of Michelangelo. We’ve all seen the pictures in books, but nothing can describe the awe of seeing it in person. I was totally absorbed by it.

After some time, I lowered my gaze and realized I didn’t know anybody in the chapel. Apparently the rest of the group had moved on, leaving me behind. I knew which door we came in, so that left two to choose from for an exit. I chose the door on the left. I went though it and started wandering up and down endless hallways. I passed a couple of nuns who didn’t give me a second look. (I’m guessing security is much higher nowadays.) I continued to wander on, still not sure where I was going.

Unfortunately I didn’t bump into the pope; otherwise this would be a lot better story.

Eventually, I reasoned that I had picked the wrong exit. I managed to find my way back to the Sistine Chapel and went out the other door. I spotted the gang over by the fountain in the middle of St. Peter’s Square (the one we always see on TV), and caught up with them. It was quite a day.
